We are proud to partner with Kon Kast, a Kelowna-based precast concrete manufacturer, in their search for a proactive and results-driven Operations Manager. Known for their commitment to quality, safety, and collaboration, Kon Kast is seeking a leader to elevate operational performance across engineering, drafting, production, and quality functions.
If you’re a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment, this is your chance to make a lasting impact. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll drive day-to-day operations, champion a safety-first culture, and lead continuous improvement to meet customer, schedule, and cost targets.
As the Operations Manager you will:
- Lead daily engineering & operations for a precast manufacturing facility, including design, drafting, quality management, and environmental compliance.
- Build a performance culture; coaching managers/supervisors, setting clear expectations, and fostering accountability and teamwork.
- Establish and monitor KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost) and execute lean/continuous-improvement initiatives to optimize throughput and cost.
- Own the Quality Management Program and support/maintain certification readiness (e.g., CSA/CWB); ensure robust inspection, testing, and corrective actions.
- Champion OH&S compliance and drive a “safety first” mindset.
- Oversee scheduling, material usage, workflow, and inventory to meet contract requirements and production plans.
- Provide technical guidance to the engineering team; review/seal shop drawings and ensure accuracy of drawings and change control.
- Partner with production to resolve issues rapidly, improve processes, and balance capacity, service, and cost.
- Support Sales/Estimating with preliminary designs, alternates, feasibility checks, and production methods to strengthen bids.
You and Your Experience:
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with significant experience in precast concrete and/or industrial manufacturing leadership.
- Expert knowledge of relevant design/manufacturing codes; working knowledge of CPCI, CSA, CWB, and ISO standards.
- Proven success leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to implement lean methodologies, manage KPIs, and deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and design/drafting software; strong command of drawings, specs, and project documents.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Collaborative, change-ready leader who builds effective internal/external relationships.
Kon Kast Offers:
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Performance & Annual Incentive Plan (AIP)
- A collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented culture
- Professional development and growth opportunities
- Paid company shutdown over the winter holidays
