Our client, Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. (SACI), is seeking a Director, Technology Programs & Governance to join their leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role provides strategic leadership and oversight of Southport's technology environment, including enterprise systems, cybersecurity, data governance, technology initiatives, and vendor-managed services. As a trusted business partner, the Director will lead technology planning, governance, and major transformation projects while ensuring technology investments, security practices, and service delivery align with operational priorities and long-term organizational goals. The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of leadership, business acumen, governance expertise, and technical knowledge, with the ability to drive organizational change, manage key vendor relationships, and deliver technology solutions that support growth, efficiency, and innovation.

 

As the Director, Technology Programs and Governance, you will:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and growth objectives.
  • Provide enterprise leadership and governance for technology operations, cybersecurity, data management, and business systems.
  • Lead the organization's technology governance framework, including policies, standards, risk management practices, and performance measures.
  • Oversee cybersecurity strategy, vulnerability management, security operations, and risk mitigation activities delivered through external service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, audit, contractual, insurance, and security requirements.
  • Champion data governance practices, including data ownership, classification, security, retention, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead business continuity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and testing programs to ensure organizational resilience.
  • Provide executive oversight of Southport's cybersecurity awareness and training initiatives.
  • Direct the planning, prioritization, and successful delivery of major technology projects, system implementations, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Establish technology architecture, application governance, and integration standards to support operational efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize the organization's technology portfolio to reduce redundancy, control costs, and improve overall performance.
  • Lead organizational change management efforts related to technology adoption, new systems, and business process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with managed service providers, technology vendors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, oversee, and evaluate vendor contracts, service agreements, and performance metrics to ensure accountability and value delivery.
  • Establish and monitor service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and vendor performance standards.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to identify business requirements and develop technology solutions that support operational and strategic objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership on technology performance, cybersecurity posture, project status, risks, and investment opportunities.
  • Oversee IT asset management, lifecycle planning, budgeting, forecasting, and technology investment decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and the effective use of emerging technologies across the organization.
  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, risk awareness, and service excellence across all technology functions.

 

You and Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, IT management, governance, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology programs, strategic initiatives, and system implementations.
  • Experience overseeing managed service providers, vendor relationships, service contracts, and third-party technology environments.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks, cybersecurity principles, risk management, compliance, and business continuity planning.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps, governance models, policies, and operational standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while balancing operational requirements and strategic priorities.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology investments and initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Experience leading organizational change and technology adoption initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to present recommendations, risks, and strategic opportunities to executive leadership and boards.
  • Experience with data governance, enterprise applications, systems integration, and information management practices.
  • Experience within aviation, government, municipal, infrastructure, or other regulated environments is considered an asset.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, PMP, ITIL, or similar designations are considered assets.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools.
