On behalf of our client, Mayfair Diagnostics, we are seeking an Accounting & Payroll Manager to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this leadership role is responsible for overseeing accounting and payroll operations across a growing multi-location healthcare organization. Leading a team of five accounting and payroll professionals, the successful candidate will be a strong people leader, and play a key role in financial reporting, payroll oversight, team development, audit coordination, and process improvement while helping support Mayfair's continued growth and operational excellence.
As the Accounting & Payroll Manager, you will:
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of five accounting and payroll professionals.
- Provide oversight of accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close activities, financial reporting, and payment reviews.
- Review weekly payment runs, ensuring supporting documentation, coding, and calculations are accurate and complete.
- Oversee payroll processes and controls, acting as a backup resource when required.
- Support the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, including budget maintenance within the ERP system.
- Partner with internal leaders to resolve accounting issues, support operational initiatives, and drive process improvements.
- Coordinate year-end activities and work closely with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain strong internal controls, identify process improvement opportunities, and support system enhancements.
- Provide oversight of physician, partner, and independent contractor payments, ensuring calculations and reporting are accurate.
- Foster a collaborative team environment through transparent communication, accountability, and ongoing development support.
You and Your Experience:
- Professional designation, Chartered Professional Account (CPA) required, as well as degree in accounting or business administration.
- Proven leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing accounting and/or payroll professionals.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience, including financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and accounting oversight.
- Experience overseeing payroll functions, with exposure to Dayforce, Ceridian, or similar payroll systems considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, compliance requirements, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.
- Experience working within an ERP environment; Sage Intacct experience is considered an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills, strong financial systems aptitude, and the ability to analyze and validate complex financial information.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, organizational, and time management skills.
- Healthcare industry experience is considered an asset but not required.
