Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Project Manager to oversee and coordinate construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively. This role offers an opportunity to lead diverse projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards. The Construction Project Manager will play a pivotal role in planning and executing projects while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage RFPs, tendering, and the review and summarizing of quotes.
- Negotiate and award sub-trade agreements while overseeing procurement and subcontractor relationships.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure project accuracy.
- Utilize construction management software such as BuilderTrend for project tracking and documentation.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Oversee permitting process with in-house and external designers.
- Monitor project progress regularly; adjust schedules and resources as needed to meet deadlines.
- Prepare and review construction estimates; manage project budgets effectively.
- Conduct site visits for inspections and progress assessments on a regular basis.
- Manage project documentation and reporting for stakeholders from project kick-off to close-out
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a Project Manager role within residential construction, renovation or design build environments.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, from planning through execution and close-out.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, detailing on how elements "go together" and project coordination.
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations, site teams, trades, and clients.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating.
- Experience working with construction management software (e.g., BuilderTrend, CompanyCam, or similar platforms).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or comparable design/drafting tools is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and project management principles.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with engineering concepts and construction safety protocols.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to job sites within the GTA as required.
The role includes travel within the GTA. Travel related expenses are reimbursed.
