Chief Executive Officer

Lead what is working. Shape what comes next.

The Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead a respected, financially sound organization at an important point in its evolution.

TSASK protects people and supports responsible economic growth through the administration and enforcement of technical safety legislation across electrical, gas, plumbing, boiler and pressure vessel, elevating device and amusement ride programs. With a strong financial position, deep technical expertise and a growing national reputation, TSASK offers a rare opportunity to lead an organization with visible public impact and the agility to turn good ideas into meaningful results.

This is not a turnaround role. It is an opportunity to build from strength.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight while safeguarding TSASK’s regulatory independence, public credibility and commitment to safety.

The next CEO will guide the organization through a period of leadership renewal and continued modernization. Priorities will include strengthening succession and organizational capacity, advancing the evolution toward “One TSASK,” improving the integration of systems and services, and preparing the organization for a potential future role in safety oversight of nuclear energy development in the province.

The CEO will also serve as a trusted and credible voice with employees, government, Crown corporations, industry, labour representatives and regulatory partners. Success will require the ability to balance public accountability with practical, responsive and business-minded leadership.

Why TSASK?

This is an opportunity to:

  • Lead an organization whose work directly protects people and supports Saskatchewan’s growth.
  • Leverage a stable financial and operational foundation rather than repair one.
  • Work with an experienced team that brings extensive technical and regulatory knowledge.
  • Influence strategy, culture, service delivery and stakeholder relationships in a meaningful and visible way.
  • Help shape the future of technical safety in Saskatchewan and contribute to broader provincial and national conversations.
  • Advance modernization, integration and future readiness while preserving the strengths that have made TSASK successful.

The Leader We Are Seeking

TSASK does not need its CEO to be the organization’s leading technical expert. It needs an accomplished enterprise leader who can set direction, build trust, align people and turn strategy into action.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Strategic and future-focused, with the ability to understand complex regulatory, political, economic and organizational considerations.
  • Approachable and people-centred, creating an environment where employees are heard, leaders are developed and accountability is clear.
  • Decisive and evidence-informed, balancing data, professional expertise, stakeholder insight and public risk.
  • Experienced in change and execution, with a record of moving organizations from planning to implementation.
  • Governance-literate and principled, able to work effectively with a Board while protecting regulatory integrity and independence.
  • A skilled relationship builder, credible with government, industry, labour and professional partners.
  • Financially astute, with the judgment to align resources and investments with long-term priorities.
  • Steady and adaptable, bringing humility, resilience and sound judgment through transition and ambiguity.

The ideal candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience, strong business acumen and a record of leading growth, modernization or organizational evolution. Experience in a regulatory, public protection, public-sector or similarly complex stakeholder environment would be an asset. Relevant academic or professional credentials may include an MBA, LLB, P.Eng., CPA or another combination of education and experience appropriate to the role.

Leadership That Listens—and Delivers

The first year will require thoughtful pacing. The new CEO will be expected to learn the organization, build credibility and preserve continuity before advancing major change. Early success will be reflected in a stable transition, sustained operational performance, stronger organizational alignment, clear strategic direction, productive stakeholder relationships and a practical path forward for future readiness.

TSASK welcomes leaders with diverse professional and lived experience who share its commitment to safety, integrity, respect, accountability, teamwork, professional service, recognition and continuous learning.
